Old cars are more fun...
Well. I don't really know what the hell has happened.
I seem to have lost the last 18 months, honestly i have no idea as to their whereabouts. It's a concern, i think i must be losing my mind. I was slapped with a driving ban 18 months ago you see, and back then 18 months into the future seemed a long LONG way off. But it's nearly here now. In fact, in six weeks i'll be offending the roads of Bristol with my '60's monster of a car. Stereo pumping, right arm hanging out of the window. I can't wait.
I say i can't wait, but i might have to, seeing as my car is currently in a bodyshop being fixed and filled. Just look at her, poor thing. I could be forced to roll along in our sensible car, the Beemer. I like it, it's nice and safe and has electric everything and shiny paint but it's a bit devoid of any sort of personality. My car is chock full of personality, to the brim. If, god forbid, i were to crash the Bemmer i'd be greeted by german engineering doing it's upmost to save my ickle life. The airbag would deploy, the front end of the car would explode in an efficient, pre decided manner and i'd get out with a bit of headache. My car though, well, it'd fold up like bacofiol and i'd be draped across the bonnet with the headlight knob embedded in my right ear and a steering column through my chest. Thats personality. It's all too controlled in new stuff, and that kills the fun.
The other, and less gory reason for wanting my car is the 'oooooh' factor. Despite the fact it's going to have more primer on show than real paint it will still be pointed at and stared at...for all the right reasons. No one will look at it in disgust, as if it were a chavved up Corsa offending passers by with 'Hard House Anthems 37'. I want that soo bad. A good friend has an even older motor than mine and he gets the same sort of fond attention. I bloody want that. I've served my punishment....LET ME DRIVE NOW!
It'll be ace once it is going though. It might just look like a silly old wreck to you, but i can promise you that it's one very rare car. I'm confident it's the only one like it in the Bristol area, well, that'll be on the road anyway. It's a spectacle for anyone who sees it. It makes people smile. I'm being a sentimental mong now, sorry.
The total kick in the bollock though>? It's summer.....THE time to be driving it about, i want it soooo much. This is going to be the longest six weeks of my life!
